Cub Scout handbooks
Cub Scout handbooks list all rank requirements, as well as optional adventures. Handbooks are available in both print and ebook format. Handbooks can be ordered here. They are also available through the council scout shop. Handbooks are updated regularly. While using a pre-owned handbook is acceptable, it is important to use the most recent version of the appropriate handbook.
In addition to the handbook, it is recommended that parents/guardians and leaders use Scoutbook to track a scout's advancement.
If a Cub Scout does not complete all rank requirements, the scout will not earn the rank patch, but will move to the next level at the start of the next program year. The scout program year roughly coincides with the school year.
Lion Cub Scouts (kindergarten) and their adult partners use the yellow Lion kit.
Tiger Cub Scouts (1st grade) use the orange Tiger handbook.
Wolf Cub Scouts (2nd grade) use the red Wolf handbook.
Bear Cub Scouts (3rd grade) use the blue Bear handbook.
